MPI Board President’s Message
Dear friends,
This is a short note to introduce Mentoring Partnership International (MPI) to you.
NVPC appointed MPI in March 2009 to implement two programmes - the
Executive Director Mentoring Programme and the Board Match programme
NVPC has identified mentoring for NPO Executive Directors and CEOs as
an important means to help them grow as leaders to face challenges in
their work. Hence, NVPC has implemented Executive Director Mentoring
Programme (EDMP), which is a new programme seeking to pair NPO leaders
with experienced advisors who can offer guidance, support and feedback
for an extended period of time, usually a year. The programme is
designed to create a safe and informal environment to help these
mentees to voice their thoughts and ideas about the realities and
directions of their NPOs and to find creative ways to deal with
challenges and opportunities.
Board Match was a programme initiated by NVPC in 2007 to help build
capacity in the nonprofit sector by matching individuals committed to
the idea of strengthening nonprofit boards with relevant charitable and
other NPOs in Singapore. Board Match seeks to attract committed and
talented individuals to help in NPO board renewal.
NVPC has identified NPO leadership and capacity development as a third
pillar that complements its work in leading and catalysing
transformational initiatives in volunteerism and philanthropy. To
ensure NVPC focuses on playing a strategic role, NVPC has worked with
MPI to strengthen it with the capability and resources to be a
dedicated agency for NPO leadership development.
NVPC continues to work closely with MPI on the design and evaluation of both programmes.
